- You already have backend APIs and only need a frontend application.
When Next.js Is the Better Choice
Next.js is built on top of React and adds features that make applications faster, more scalable, and production-ready.
- SEO matters for your business.
- You're building marketing websites, blogs, or e-commerce platforms.
- You need Server-Side Rendering (SSR) or Static Site Generation (SSG).
- You want built-in image optimization.
- You need API routes in the same project.
- You plan to deploy on Vercel.

React is excellent when you need complete flexibility and are building application-heavy experiences. Next.js is React with superpowers that make production applications faster, more scalable, and significantly more SEO-friendly.
